Travelling with Your Baby: Hygiene Tips
Fri, Jul 16, 2010Before you travel with your baby you may be worried about how to keep his/her things clean while you’re away. Having considered all of the options I think that the easiest solution is a packet of Milton tablets.
All you’ll really need is a container large enough for 5 litres of water and a packet of the tablets. The bath in your accommodation would do but if you’re moving around a lot and not sure if each place will have a bath then you could get hold of a big plastic bucket. I actually use a rubble bucket that I bought from a DIY store! (Thanks to my friend Sarah for this tip!) Euan has outgrown his baby bath so the rubble bucket doubles up as his bath when we’re staying in a place which only has a shower.
I just use water from the tap to sterilise Euan’s bits and pieces but another handy tip is to use a water bottle to measure the water.

Hi Anna,
We recently travelled to Turkey with our son (7 months) and as he is bottle fed we needed to use a container to sterilise the bottles. We had taken a box of Milton tablets (much better than supermarket own brand tablets as the bottles etc don’t need rinsing afterwards) but we had no container to do the sterilising in. We were in self catering accomodation so I used the plastic veg tray from the bottom of the fridge and an empty water bottle to measure out the correct amount of water (Milton: 1 tablet = 5 litres H2O)…. A perfect solution….

It’s great to get useful tips like that, keep them coming!
Thanks,
Anna
