Crisp Winter Walks in Perthshire
Mon, Oct 11, 2010This Monday I’m dreaming of the first family holiday we took after the birth of my son. Euan was 6 weeks old and we travelled to Perthshire in the north of Scotland for my mum’s 60th birthday.
The journey there involved breastfeeding and nappy changing in the car whilst parked at the side of the road! But it was well worth it.
We stayed in a gorgeous lodge called Straloch House (I don’t earn commission from this place, I just love it!) The house more than exceeded our expectations – it was huge! The log fire in the living room was glorious and the all important dining kitchen was well used. The house is decorated to an extremely high standard and felt luxurious yet homely. Photos of the interior to follow at a later date but in the mean time have a look at these:
The landscape surrounding the house is just beautiful. There are long hikes and short strolls on your doorstep if you fancy a bit of fresh air.
It was February so the weather was cold, crisp and sunny (my favourite kind!) There was still snow so we had to wrap up when we went for our walks.
With all that fresh air Euan was out for the count!
There are more photos of the weekend on my husband’s website.

Oh my goodness, I love those pictures and the last one is the clincher! Isn’t it lovely when they are so small and you can just tote them around and all they do is nuzzle into you? I’ll have to remember that the next time I’m asking one son to wait up and the other to keep up.
Glad you like the pictures, Mara. I do love that tiny baby stage, couldn’t resist including that one!
I really wish I had made it to Scotland on one of my trips “across the pond.” It’s definitely on my bucket list. And I’m a total sucker for adorable sleeping newborns!

Thanks for your comment. I hope you make it to Bonnie Scotland some time (and I’m sure you will!)
